Loving God With All Our Mind

Alright, so if I haven't thrown enough resources at people at my workplace and through this blog, I must beg your forgiveness and continue the trend.

At the church I work for, I have recently recruited a professor from a nearby university to come teach a class for our lay equipping ministry.  The class is essentially about what it means to take seriously the command we've been given in Scripture to love the Lord our God with all our mind.

 Our textbook is a great one, J.P. Moreland's Love Your God With All Your Mind.

 A few nights back, I brought some other books to class so that if anyone wanted to do some further study, they could have some good starting points.  Listed below are the resources I brought with me.  I am posting them for three reasons:
  1. in case you were in the class and couldn't remember a title;
  2. in case you're a Christian and a reader (This should be a normal trend, but sadly most Christians are not readers.  And here I'm making my sad face.);
  3. in case you're a Christian who is not a reader, but you care because you want to be obedient to Scripture by loving your God with all your mind.

Habits of the Mind: Intellectual Life as a Christian Calling by James Sire.  (James Sire has dedicated several books to this subject as you will see.)

A Little Primer on Humble Apologetics by James Sire.

Discipleship of the Mind by James Sire.

The Passionate Intellect: Christian Faith and the Discipleship of the Mind by Alister McGrath.

Fit Bodies Fat Minds: Why Evangelicals Don't Think and What to Do About It by Os Guinness.

Smart Faith: Loving Your God with All Your Mind by J.P. Moreland & Mark Matlock.

The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind by Mark Noll.

Your Mind Matters: The Place of the Mind in the Christian Life by John R. W. Stott.

The Christian Mind: How Should a Christian Think? by Harry Blamires.

Did I mention that these are just the tip of the iceberg.  I would expect more titles like these to be published in the future.  Right now, many people are not only aware of this epidemic in the church, but they are starting to shout for action (a "call to arms" of sorts) with books like these.  Will YOU take the challenge?
